True Crime: Streets of L.A.

Posted on March 6, 2008April 22, 2023 by edvardtoth

2002 | Luxoflux | Activision | PlayStation2 | XBox | GameCube | Driving action

I intermittently worked on True Crime only for about 6 months while trying to get other projects at Luxoflux going.
During that time I created around 40+ buildings, several characters, and assisted in prototyping certain effects and features.

In case you’re not familiar with the premise, True Crime is an all-in-one driving/shooting/fighting game that also happens to recreate roughly 300 square miles(!) of Los Angeles in such elaborate detail that you can use an actual street map of L.A. to get around the city.

It was Activision’s flagship title for the 2003 holiday season, featuring a huge marketing campaign, a massive hip-hop soundtrack, and high-caliber voice actors such as Gary Oldman, Michael Madsen, and the mighty Christopher Walken himself.
