The Cultist – a GenAI test using Invoke

Posted on November 3, 2024November 4, 2024 by edvardtoth

With GenAI I’m always on the prowl for new tools and workflows, in pursuit of as much control and agency as possible.

I periodically circle back to ComfyUI, but as versatile as it is, it often ends up making me want to throw myself in front of a bus.

However, recently I took the latest version of Invoke for a spin, and I’m super impressed.

It offers a fantastic user experience, and an extremely powerful “active canvas” workflow that puts traditional manual input front and center, which I greatly prefer.

It may very well be the first truly professional-grade, end-to-end GenAI art tool, and it does feel as impactful and game-changing as tools like ZBrush or Substance did back in the day. It’s also open source.

The lovely lady below is the result of this experimentation: it’s an interpretation of one of our in-game characters, a female acolyte of a sinister Lovecraftian cult, right as her corruption takes hold.
