Hey all… I made a short inspired by and paying homage to an iconic scene from The Witch by Robert Eggers, a masterpiece of a movie I have been unreasonably obsessed with ever since its release.
I was curious to try some new things to get a more expressive, vulnerable and emotive performance from a high-fidelity character, push general mood-building, and test-drive some pretty arcane stuff involving camera and keyframe control.
The original scene is so beautifully restrained and minimalistic that it lends itself well to all sorts of over-the-top interpretations.
Every element of the short – the visuals, the voices, the music, the editing – was created using AI-powered tools.
While Weavy served as the backbone of the operation, this truly was a broad-spectrum effort involving a number of models and tools – including Leonardo.Ai, Kling AI, ElevenLabs, Magnific AI, OpenAI – and plenty of good old-fashioned manual painting and compositing.
As usual, the most valuable – and most frustrating – parts are the ones I botched and wish I could redo. Those are the fuel for the next one. 😀
Enjoy!
There’s also a YouTube version.
The real sleeper component was Leonardo’s Lucid Realism model, combined with hand-crafted guidance images and Magnific upscaling.
The results are some really striking and atmospheric, Renaissance painting / Dutch masters vibes:
